Shad and Deanna Sequim Formal Wedding Portraits | Port Angeles, Sequim Wedding Photographer

Shad and Deanna opted to do their formal bride and groom portraits before their wedding day. Honestly, even though its fun to be seen for the first time when you’re walking down the isle, doing your portraits in advance has some perks too! For example, I was able to get professional prints for them to display at their reception! They make great decor and it is fun to have your guests get to “ooh and ah” over your pictures at the reception. The other great benefit is that it loosens up the wedding day schedule! It is already such a busy day, so taking one thing off of the to do list can really help things run smoothly. But, whichever day you choose, taking the time for formal bride and groom portraits is SO important. Someday, I’ll write a blog post on my wedding and how we ended up with only a handful of pictures, but for now, lets just say its one of my biggest regrets!

Anyway, back to Shad and Deanna! We were hoping the weather would hold long enough so that they didn’t get rained out and thankfully it did. And the storm clouds made for some amazing portraits on the beach! We took a few portraits with Shads kids and Deanna’s son, and then a family friend was able to take the kids so that we could do the rest of the portraits without boring the kids to death or distracting the parents (by the way, I highly recommend taking this approach) and it worked like a charm. We got the perfect family portraits, as well as the romantic wedding portraits and everyone left happy!

And by the way, isn’t the Dungeness Spit such an AMAZING place for portraits? I love how there are so many different looks at the same location!
