Texas Family, Port Angeles Destination Wedding Extended Family Session
Paige and Lucas came all the way from Texas and had the most beautiful and fun destination wedding at Nature Bridge in the Olympic National Park near Port Angeles. (Check out their wedding here!) I got to meet them in person the day before the wedding and do a quick engagement shoot. We also fit in an extended family shoot with both sides of the family! We ended up with the most ethereal gorgeous weather with the fog rolling into Salt Creek Beach just in time for our session. Meeting the extended family before Paige and Lucas’ wedding was such a great experience. They were all so friendly and kind and it made it feel like everyone was already an old friend when I got there to photograph their wedding the next day! That is actually one of the hardest parts about serving couples who come to the Pacific Northwest for destination weddings. When we hit it off like I did with this family, I end up feeling so sad that they aren’t local. In this case Paige and Lucas are planning on coming back for anniversary trips and are planning on future photo sessions then!
As we moved to the next part of our shoot with extended family the sun came out with the fog. When I was editing these images I just couldn’t help but think about my own grandparents. Paige’s grandparents look angelic in the crazy light and foggy conditions that we had and it made me wish so much that I had pictures like these of my own grandparents to treasure. I may not have them, but it truly is a gift for me to help other people have them!
Alright ladies and gents…this is where you have to pay attention…There are not two Lucas’ in this image. I was fairly warned before meeting Lucas’ side of the family that he and his brother look a lot alike but I was not prepared. I think it is more evident in person how much they really look alike, but still!
Also, you have to know that Lucas’ parents asked to have a fun photo, so we went the “album cover” route. Still trying to figure out their band name. Let me know if you have any suggestions!
That is just a few of my favorites from this 3 in 1 session, and speaking of, that is a record for me! I’ve never done that many sessions at once and in so short of a time, but these guys were so great to work with that they knocked it out of the park! Also, I’m still so amazed that Paige was able to organize this the day before her destination wedding. She’s incredible! Seriously take a look at their wedding blog post and you’ll see so many thoughtful fun details. These people know how to party!
